Video Marketing for Small Businesses is not only feasible, it's a must

I am re-launching my weekly webinar series with a topic that we’ve covered before but one that is so critical it deserves another look. There are some incredible statistics out there. Last May there were over 15 Billion (with a “B”) videos streamed just in the US. That’s not even a global figure. There have been so many other social media “fads” that have taken our attention (and I am right there with everyone touting the benefits of Pinterest, I know…), but video is still one of the most powerful tools any business can wield to get attention, more followers and ultimately drive sales through directing more people to their websites.

YouTube is still the king of online video and while there are other sites out there that may have better or newer bells and whistles, like Vimeo for example,  the fact that YouTube is owned by Google makes it the most powerful tool for video marketing. By using the right keywords in the video description and having an optimized YouTube channel, both of which don’t take a huge amount of time or money, a small business owner can have a platform for their online marketing that can get ranked in Google for competitive keywords in a matter of days, not months.

From the discussions I’ve had with numerous small business owners, I know first hand that the main hurdle for them with respect to video marketing is the perception that video is very expensive to do well.  While you can spend thousands of dollars hiring a professional videographer, you can also get a short, but very professional video created for you quickly and on budget.  Many savvy small business owners have discovered Fiverr for all kinds of quick online services, and video is one of their strongest categories. The concept behind this website is that most services sell for $5. There are folks who have more elaborate services and charge more, but its a great way to try out hiring someone to do a video for you without making a big investment. If you don’t like the results, you’re only out a day or two and $5. And if you like the work, you can continue to hire that same person to do multiple videos and before you know it, you have a great video marketing tool via your YouTube channel or on your website.

  3. I know this if off topic but I’m looking into starting my own blog and was wondering what all is needed to get setup? I’m assuming having a blog like yours would cost a pretty penny? I’m not very internet smart so I’m not 100% certain. Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    • Thanks for the kind words about my blog. It is easy and inexpensive to set up a blog. You can start by going to and setting up a free site. You can change colors and backgrounds easily and get started blogging very quickly in just a few minutes. Try it out and let me know how it goes.
